Pimelea leptospermoides is a shrub growing 0.3 to 1 m high. The young stems are hairy. This species occurs on stony hillsides and in sandy clay soils, in open eucalypt forest (Rye 1990). Pimelea leptospermoides occurs in central eastern Queensland from near Marlborough to Rockhampton. Its extent of occurrence is 110 km, and within an area of 1000 sq km (QDNR 2000). Polianthion minutiflorum is a shrub growing to 1 m high, The young stems are slender with a dense ferruginous indumentum of stellate hairs. Polianthion minutiflorum is distinguished by its small hypanthium and very short style, as well as being the only Polianthion species from Queensland (Kellermann et al. 2006). Usually found in forest and woodland on sandstone slopes and gullies with skeletal soil, or sometimes deeper sands adjacent to deeply weathered laterite. Polianthion minutiflorum is known from Redcliffe Vale, about 110 km west of Mackay, south to Kingaroy, covering a distance of approximately 800 km (Queensland Herbarium, 2012). Pomaderris coomingalensis is a shrub that grows from 3 to 5 m tall. Pomaderris coomingalensis is recorded from Eucalyptus decorticans , and Corymbia citriodora subsp. variegata open forest on red soil; and E. crebra / Eucalyptus fibrosa subsp . nubila woodland on stony brown clay loam (Walsh, 1997; Queensland Herbarium, 2012). Quassia ( Samadera bidwillii ) is a small shrub or tree that grows to 6m tall, with red flowers and red fruit. The leaves are long and narrow (4.5-9cm long and 6-12mm wide), stiff and leathery. The leaf margins are bent under, and the surface is green and glossy. Quassia is endemic to Queensland and is known from several localities near Mackay and north of Gympie. The species commonly occurs in lowland rainforest or on rainforest margins (Hewson, 1985) but can also be found in open forest and woodland (QDNR, 2000b). Quassia is commonly found in areas adjacent to both temporary and permanent watercourses (Belleng Pty Ltd, 2004).
