4. GHG Emissions Inventory Methodology 4.1. Overview The overall methodology used to perform the GHG assessment for the Project was:
1. Define the emission boundary for the Project;
2. Identify major life cycle activities of the Project and associated emission sources;
3. Classify emission sources as Scope 1, Scope 2, or Scope 3;
4. Identify appropriate methodologies and required data and emission factors for each emission source; and
5. Calculate estimated GHG emissions.
More detailed methodologies for calculations associated with each Scope of emission are outlined in Section 5. As stated in Table 1 of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Guidelines (DETSI, 2025) , for amendment applications the requirement is to identify GHG emissions likely to be generated through the life of the project only in relation to the amendment being sought. As such this report considers emissions associated with the proposed amendment to the EA to authorise the Upper Mundic Gully TSF and does not consider other potential emissions associated with mining activities authorised under the current EA (effective date 26 May 2025). 4.2. Emission Boundary This assessment has considered Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions associated with the Project and the boundary of the assessment is defined as: • Construction of the Project, including vegetation clearing, earthworks, material haulage, embankment construction, liner installation, associated heavy machinery and power usage; • Operational activities of the Project, including water plant discharge pump systems, return to water plant pump systems, and Open Cut Pit to Upper Mundic Gully pump systems; • Closure and rehabilitation of the Project, including reprofiling beach, spillway construction, importation of cover material, seeding and mulch application; and • For Scope 1 and 2 emissions, the geographical boundary includes the footprint of the Project, construction material sources that are on-site, and directly related haul roads. All other related activities that are outside this area have been considered to fall under Scope 3 emissions.
