5.1.2. Fuel Combustion GHG emissions from fuel combustion were calculated following the Method 1 outlined in Division 2.4.2 of NGER Measurement Determination (NGER, 2008) . The method uses the equation : 𝐸𝐸 𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖 = 𝑄𝑄 𝑖𝑖 × 𝐸𝐸𝐶𝐶 𝑖𝑖 × 𝐸𝐸𝐹𝐹 𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖𝑖 1000 where: 𝑬𝑬 𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊 is the emissions of gas type ( 𝑗𝑗 ), being carbon dioxide, methane or nitrous oxide, released from the combustion of fuel type ( 𝑖𝑖 ) from the operation of the facility during the year measured in CO 2 -e tonnes. 𝑸𝑸 𝒊𝒊 is the quantity of fuel type ( 𝑖𝑖 ) combusted from the operation of the facility for: (( ab )) st rt aa tni sopnoa rr ty eenneerrggyy ppuurrppoosseess; ; a n d during the year measured in kilolitres and estimated under Division 2.4.6. 𝑬𝑬𝑪𝑪 𝒊𝒊 is the energy content factor of fuel type ( 𝑖𝑖 ) estimated under section 6.5. 𝑬𝑬𝑭𝑭 𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊𝒊 is the emission factor for each gas type ( 𝑗𝑗 ) released from the operation of the facility during the year (which includes the effect of an oxidation factor) measured in kilograms CO 2 -e per gigajoule of fuel type ( 𝑖𝑖 ) according to source as mentioned in: (( ab )) ff oo rr st rt aa tni sopnoa rr ty eenneerrggyy ppuurrppoosseess——DPiavri ts i3o no f4S. 1c hoef dSuc lhee 1d ;ual en d1 As defined in NGER (2008): • Transport energy purposes includes purposes for which fuel is combusted that consist of any of the following: (a) transport by vehicles registered for road use; (b) rail transport; (c) waterborne transport; (d) air transport. • Stationary energy purposes means purposes for which fuel is combusted that do not involve transport energy purposes. Scope 1 emission factors for fuel combustion are outlined in Table 4, with further emission calculations detailed in Section 6.1.1.
