Appendices Appendix 1 - Matters of State Environmental Significance (MSES) methodology MSES mapping is a regional-scale representation of the definition for MSES under the State Planning Policy (SPP). Its primary purpose is to support implementation of the SPP biodiversity policy. MSES mapping does not replace the regulatory mapping or environmental values specifically called up under other laws or regulations. MSES mapping does not determine whether state or local development assessment is required. For state assessment triggers refer to the Development Assessment Mapping System (DAMS). For local assessment triggers, refer to the relevant local planning scheme. The Queensland Government's "Method for mapping - matters of state environmental significance can be downloaded from:
