3.1 Flora 3.1.1 Regulated vegetation
Regulated vegetation mapping over the project area includes vegetation mapped as Category B (remnant vegetation and Category X (non-remnant) vegetation. Remnant vegetation is mapped along the north-eastern to south-eastern boundaries of the project area. 3.1.1.1 Regional ecosystems The latest RE mapping (Version 13.1) was obtained for the project area and three REs were mapped within the remnant vegetation and are described in Table 3.1. Of the mapped remnant REs, one is classed as ‘of concern’, and the other two are classed as ‘least concern’ under the provisions of the Vegetation Management Act 1999 (VM Act) and under the biodiversity status is classed Was ‘of concern’ and ‘no concern at present’. Biodiversity status is assessed by DETSI when considering development applications to clear vegetation. Least Concern is not a regulatory status, unless the biodiversity status includes Essential Habitat for specific threatened fauna/flora species.

3.1.2 Threatened ecological communities Ecological communities are naturally occurring biological assemblages that occur in a particular type of habitat. Threatened ecological communities (TECs) are ecological communities that have been assessed and assigned to a particular category related to the status of the threat to the community at a national scale, i.e. extinct, critically endangered, endangered, vulnerable and conservation dependant. TECs are protected under the EPBC Act. Based on the EPBC Protected Matters Search Tool (PMST) three endangered (E) TECs may occur within the study area, these being: – Weeping Myall Woodlands (Endangered) – Coolibah – Black Box Woodlands of the Darling Riverine Plains and the Brigalow Belt (Endangered) – Poplar Box grassy woodland on alluvial plains (Endangered) In Queensland, TECs are linked to certain REs which are identified in the listing advice of each TEC. No REs mapped to the project area aligned with Weeping Myall Woodlands, Coolibah or Poplar Box grasslands TECs. 3.1.3 Protected plants trigger area Threatened flora species are defined as those species listed under the provisions of the EPBC Act (Cwlth) and/or the Queensland Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation 2006, the regulation to the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (NC Act).
