Migratory Actitis hypoleucos Common sandpiper

Unlikely to occur There is limited preferred habitat for the species identified within the project areas. The nearest historical record occurs near the coast. This species is considered the species is unlikely to occur within the project area. Unlikely to occur The closest historical record is approximately 20 km west from 1965. The species is typically found above open plains. Due to the lack of recent records, this species is considered unlikely to occur.

Found along all coastlines of Australia and in many areas inland, the common sandpiper is widespread in small numbers. The population when in Australia is concentrated in northern and western Australia (DAWE 2022l). In Australia, the species predominantly occurs over inland plains, but is also recorded over coastal areas, foothills, cliffs, beaches, islands, and offshore waters. It frequents a range of habitats including dry and open areas, riparian woodlands, tea-tree swamps, heathlands, saltmarshes, grasslands, sandplains with spinifex, farmland, and sand dunes. It is occasionally observed over rainforests, wet sclerophyll forests, open forests, and pine plantations, and may also occur over urban environments (DAWE, 2022m).

Unlikely to occur There is limited preferred habitat for the species within the project area. The nearest record is approximately 63 km northeast of the project area. As such the species is considered unlikely to occur within the project area.

Prefers shallow fresh to saline wetlands. The species is found at coastal lagoons, estuaries, bays, swamps, lakes, inundated grasslands, saltmarshes, river pools, creeks, floodplains and artificial wetlands. The species is usually found in coastal or near coastal habitat but occasionally found further inland. It prefers wetlands that have open fringing mudflats and low, emergent or fringing vegetation (DAWE 2022p). The species inhabits coastal regions across northern and eastern Australia, as well as offshore islands. Species utilises a range of vegetated habitats, including monsoon rainforests, wet sclerophyll
