4.3
Quality assurance & quality control
4.3.1 Field QA/QC Groundwater monitoring was undertaken by Heritage Minerals. Field monitoring and sampling sheets were not provided to GHD; however, it is understood that Heritage Minerals completed the groundwater monitoring in accordance with their standard operating procedure (SOP). The monitoring was undertaken monthly from August 2022 to September 2024, with the monitoring suite aligning with the requirements of the EA with the exception of cyanide. Cyanide was missed from the analytical program on two occasions, however as all cyanide results were reported below the laboratory LOR, this is not considered a material omission. Field duplicates, field blanks and rinsates were not required according to the EA. Therefore, these field QA/QC procedures were excluded from the sampling program. GHD have presented recommendations for a suitable groundwater sampling framework in Appendix G, which outlines the required methodology for groundwater sampling in accordance with industry best practice. The framework includes: – General sampling methodology and equipment requirements – Recording field parameter measurements – Sample collection procedure – Equipment calibration procedure – QA/QC sample collection 4.3.2 Laboratory QA/QC NATA accredited laboratories must implement QC procedures, including laboratory duplicates, method blanks and matrix spikes detailing both relative percent difference (RPD) and acceptable limits. Laboratory duplicates indicate method precision and sample heterogeneity undertaken during analysis. Non-compliant laboratory QC criteria identified during the monthly monitoring events are presented in Appendix F. Laboratory QA/QC compliance reports are available in Appendix E. Laboratory QA/QC outliers are not considered to affect the outcomes of the EA water quality compliance review.
