5.1 Translocation team The roles and responsibilities of key members of the translocation team are outlined in the following subsections:
5.1.1 The proponent The proponent will be responsible for obtaining and ensuring compliance with all project approval conditions, more specifically: • Ensuring all necessary permits and approvals are obtained prior to commencement of works at the subject site. • Ensuring all contractors / parties comply with all conditions of necessary permits and approvals relating to the works, including the requirements of this Translocation Plan. • Arrange suitably experienced persons (Specialist ecologist and translocation contractor) to undertake the translocation works and to conduct ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the translocation works for the duration of the maintenance and monitoring period. • Ensuring adequate resources are available for implementing the translocation program and requirements of this Translocation Plan. • Providing notifications and monitoring reports as specified in approval and permit conditions, which are to be confirmed. • Maintaining accurate records of all activities associated with or relevant to any conditions of approval, including implementation of the Translocation Plan, and providing these records to regulatory authorities as specified in approval and permit conditions, which are to be confirmed. • Securing the long-term protection of the translocated individuals at the recipient site.
5.1.2 Specialist ecologist A specialist ecologist, experienced with translocation of native plants from the order Cycadales, shall be engaged by the proponent and will be responsible for:
• Overseeing all stages of the program, including on-ground maintenance of recipient sites. • Providing technical advice to the proponent as required. • Undertaking ecological monitoring and reporting • Recommending corrective actions as required to achieve the translocation objectives • Maintaining translocation database.
