Original EA Amendment

6. Maintenance of Translocated Plants Maintenance of the translocated plants shall be carried out for 5 years after initial planting of G. hockingsii tubestock to increase the likelihood of survival and to achieve compliance with completion criteria. The translocated tubestock will be monitored quarterly for the first 3 years and annually for an additional 2 years. The maintenance schedule to be followed is provided in Table 2 . It provides details of all maintenance inspections, observations and treatments that will be entered into the translocation database.

Description/guidance

Frequency

Watering

Tubestock plants to be watered with 2 L per plant.

• Twice in week 1 with added seaweed solution. • Twice per week (or as required) for weeks 2 - 4. • Once per week (or as required) for weeks 5 - 15. • Once every month for the next 3 months. Watering may be increased during dry periods and/or where soils have low moisture retaining characteristics. Watering will not be required when more than 20mm of rain has been received in the preceding week. As required but checked at least every quarter.

Weeding

Weeding to be undertaken within recipient site to reduce competition and lower the fire hazard. Weeds shall be controlled by hand weeding or spot spraying with appropriate organic herbicides in suitable conditions. A systemic insecticide (e.g. Crown® or Confidor®) shall be applied if evidence of insect attack is observed, particularly during the flush of new growth or around the base of the plants following high rainfall events. Insecticide use will only be used on affected plants so as not to inhibit pollination more broadly. Root damage or plant rot shall be treated with a fungicide Divert excessive runoff or implement controls if erosion of the rootball area is observed. Check integrity and undertake repairs as necessary (where applicable). Appropriate control measures shall be developed and implemented.

Plant Health

As required but checked at least once a month for first 12 months and then every quarter for remainder of the maintenance period.
