Mount Morgan Mine Upper Mundic Gully TSF EA Amendment

6.6.1 Recent investigations During December 2025, three monitoring bores named WGMB01, WGMB02 and WGMB03 were installed within the proposed TSF area to characterise the underlying geology and groundwater. The location of these groundwater bores as shown on Figure 43. Review of the geological bore logs indicates that the subsurface is generally characterised by a thin layer of residual soil or highly fractured bedrock, which transitions into competent volcanic units of Paleozoic age at shallow depths (i.e. less than 2 m from surface). Copies of the geological logs are included in Appendix H. Groundwater level measurements undertaken at monitoring bores WGMB01, WGMB02 and WGMB03 indicate levels ranging sits between 307 m AHD and 315 m AHD with an average depth to groundwater record at 21 mbgs. Five groundwater sampling events have been undertaken since installation and results indicate that there is a potential pathway for impacted water from the ephemeral dam to migrate to groundwater. Groundwater sampling will continue and results will be used to inform the groundwater modelling work to be undertaken later.
