3.5 Likelihood of occurrence For each conservation significant species identified in desktop surveys, an assessment of its likelihood of occurrence was undertaken based on the nature and condition of habitats and resources observed during field surveys and information on historical records of the species within the local landscape. Each species was assigned one of five criteria: ‘confirmed present’, ‘likely to occur’, ‘potential to occur’, ‘unlikely to occur’ and ‘highly unlikely to occur’. The results of the likelihood of occurrence assessment are provided in Appendix B.
Three threatened species were Confirmed present within the survey area during field surveys:
–
Grevillea hockingsii (NC Act – vulnerable);
– Cycas megacarpa (NC Act and EPBC – endangered); and – Short-beaked echidna ( Tachyglossus aculeatus ) (NC Act - special least concern).
Three MNES species were considered Likely to occur in the project area, due to the presence of suitable habitat, potential secondary traces (i.e. scat) and/or the presence of nearby historical records. An additional three MNES threatened species were considered to have the Potential to occur . These are shown in Table 3-12 and are discussed in the below sections.
The full likelihood of occurrence (LOO) is provided in Appendix B.
