Figure 10. Waste Rock Disposal in Upper Mundic Gully from West to East (taken 1942)
Figure 11. Waste Rock Disposal in Upper Mundic Gully Plan View (photograph taken 1953) A site visit was undertaken during June 2025 to inspect the Upper Mundic Gully area and validate ecological findings. A photograph showing extent of the Western Dump within the Upper Mundic Gully catchment is provided in Figure 12. It is evident from the linear shape that the landform has been artificially created associated with previous waste disposal activities. Figure 13 shows the base of the Upper Mundic Gully catchment looking east towards the Western Dump. This photograph clearly shows the exposed waste rock material and surface vegetation that is understood to have naturally established without intervention. As described in Section 6.7.3.2, introduced species are prevalent throughout the TSF footprint. Some species varied in density from isolated shrubs to dense thickets and in the case of Lantana was noted to have grown over and smothered local vegetation.
