Mount Morgan Mine Upper Mundic Gully TSF EA Amendment

This plan has been developed in accordance with the Guidelines for the Translocation of Threatened Plants in Australia (Commander et al., 2018), the National Multi-Species Recovery Plan for Cycads (Queensland Herbarium, 2007) and consideration of learnings from previous translocation programs involving species from the order Cycadales. Heritage minerals have decided to undertake the translocation of these individuals despite the determination of the current area occupied being “Not in the Wild” meaning such translocation and management is not a legal requirement. The site exhibits • removal of the canopy species thought to have been Eucalypt and Corymbia species • invasion of exotic grass species including Cenchrus setaceus , Melinus repens , Megathyrsus maximus , and Chloris Spp . • the dumps of overburden rocks • the old mining equipment scattered around the area These are the main reasons for the determination that the area does not meet the requirements to be “in the Wild” as per Operational Policy, NCS/2016/1961 v1.01 Wildlife (Plants) When a protected plant in Queensland is taken to be ‘in the wild’, Last reviewed: 30 NOV 2023.
