• The aluminum identification tag will be kept with the plant and the identification number written on the container with a permanent paint pen. • Heavy plants shall be loaded using a soft sling that is slung on a backhoe or excavator bucket and packed appropriately to avoid damaging the trunks. • Organic fertiliser shall be added to the cycad mix in each pot at the time of planting. • As the plants are moved into the nursery area, the roots will be checked about and if required will be trimmed and treated with fungicide/insecticide. • The plants will be potted into the appropriate sized containers in “Cycad Potting Media”. • Plants to be orientated so west side of the trunk faces west. • The plants shall be initially lightly watered in and monitored until leaf and root growth is apparent. At this stage they will be treated against insect attack with appropriate insecticide. • They will then be maintained and cared for, for at least 9 months or until good root and leaf growth is evident, then planted into the recipient site at the commencement of the next wet season. Organic foliar feed or other fertilisers shall be used during the growing period and dependent on weather conditions and timeframe required to re- establish the plants. Insect damage shall be monitored and appropriate applications of insecticide administered as required. The presence of any fungal infection shall be monitored and appropriate fungicides administered as required. Plants will be watered lightly as required depending on the weather conditions. If weeds appear in any of the pots, these will be removed by hand. If weeds appear in the gravel at the onsite nursery these will be removed by hand or with an appropriate non-systemic herbicide, depending on weed location and density. The windbreak surrounding the onsite nursery area shall be maintained during the project. • Any damage occurring during the onsite nursery operations shall be photographed and recorded in the translocation database. • Prior to removal from the onsite nursery all plants will be inspected to ensure they are weed free. Any weeds present shall be physically removed.
