Despite the taking of the plants being exempt, Heritage Minerals has decided to mitigate the impact to the species and demonstrate its commitment to the community and environment. This Management Plan outlines measures to be undertaken to meet the ‘no net loss’ requirement for G. hockingsii, NC Act. Heritage Minerals has committed to propagate G. hockingsii in order to preserve the species and genetics from this location. It is now proposed that the Mitigation Planting will be managed under this Impact Mitigation Management Plan and that this document will meet the supporting requirements of a Damage Mitigation Plan. Heritage Minerals wishes to meet the no net loss intent and mitigate impacts from the NC Act , despite being exempt. The proposed impact mitigation planting area and the impact area are largely on the same tenure parcel. This document will provide the bulk of the required information for the submittal with the Impact Mitigation Plan. Ongoing legal security will be covered by Heritage Minerals ongoing occupation of the mining tenure. It is also proposed to supply plants to botanic and educational institutions for study and display to raise the profile of Queensland’s threatened plants.
