Justification

the presence of dense patches of weeds, it is likely that the population of Cycas megacarpa within the project area will decline without intervention. In lieu of model mining conditions that relate specifically to Cycas megacarpa Management Plans, a suitably qualified and experienced person has proposed that voluntarily translocating this species to a location off tenure is the best management approach. A survey has been conducted on an adjacent property where existing Cycas megacarpa species are present. Translocating the 46 individuals to this location would contribute to an already established and viable population.

NA – New condition proposed

The Cycas megacarpa Management Plan must include: a. identification the Cycas megacarpa individuals within the area to be impacted by the construction of the Upper Mundic Gully TSF; b. measures to avoid, minimise, and mitigate impacts to Cycas megacarpa , including translocation or propagation of individuals as appropriate, to maintain a population of no less

than 46 individuals at an identified translocation or propagation site;

c. measures to harvest

reproductive material from Cycas megacarpa individuals impacted by the construction of the Upper Mundic Gully TSF and propagate additional individuals to meet or exceed the population goal of no less than 46 individuals, where it can be demonstrated that translocation of individuals is not feasible; d. a methodology and timeline for management actions, including a map of the location of the translocation or propagation site; e. measures for the management, maintenance and protection of the population of Cycas megacarpa individuals in the translocation or propagation site for a period of five years following final translocation or propagation; and f. a program for monitoring and review of the effectiveness of the Cycas megacarpa management plan.
