The geochemical properties of the treated tailings are not expected to cause environmental harm to the receiving groundwaters if seepage were to occur

Land

Ecosystem biodiversity, health and significance Contamination due to past mining and mineral processing activities is the key issue relevant to land values which have been significantly degraded

The Mount Morgan site is highly contaminated. The presence of

∕ It is anticipated that there will be no impact on land environmental values as a result of the proposed activity ∕ When tailings are appropriately managed in a TSF, the geochemical properties of the treated tailings are not expected to cause harm to the receiving environment

contamination within the Upper Mundic Gully TSF footprint, which is hydrogeological and topographically upgradient of most existing mine features, has not been historically assessed. The risk of exacerbating onsite and offsite contamination through TSF overflow events will be minimised as the failure discharge for all scenarios will be attended in the OCP which will result in retention and dilution of the discharged tailings. The geochemical properties of the processed tailings do no exceed any of the HILs and it is concluded that leaching from the tailings material is benign to human and ecological health. Noise most likely to be generated during TSF construction only, TSF operations will not contribute to excess noise generation Unlikely to affect sensitive receptors based on 2km distance from source. Standard noise and vibration management measures will be implemented Processed tailings will be deposited in slurry form which reduces potential for dust generation. The location of the TSF is approximately 2km from the nearest residential receptors and tailings discharge is unlikely to impact these receptors

Noise and Vibration

Closest sensitive receptors are residents occupying dwellings within the township of Mount Morgan. Human health and wellbeing (including sleep and relaxing) and amenity of the community Human health and wellbeing of residents within the township of Mount Morgan Aesthetics of the environment
